Purpose of the Board of Trustees
The general administration and responsibility for the proper operation of the System is vested in the Board of Trustees. The Board consists of six members: State Treasurer, Commissioner of the Department of Financial Regulation, Secretary of the Agency of Education, two members elected by active members of the System and one retired teacher elected by the board of directors of Association of Retired Teachers of Vermont. The Chair is elected by the Board and acts as executive officer of the Board.

Open to the Public
Board of Trustees meetings are open to the public. Interested parties are welcome to attend at any time. In-house meetings are typically held on the 4th floor of 109 State Street, Montpelier. Any administrative appeal or other claim should be addressed to the Board in writing for action at its next meeting. The Board generally meets once a month.
