State Treasurer Mike Pieciak announced that over $160,000 of federal funds are available to reimburse Bennington County public entities that conducted search and rescue operations on Green Mountain National Forest land on or after Oct. 1, 2012.
Today, Treasurer Mike Pieciak announced the approval of over $1.3 million in low interest loans to 10 Vermont Towns through his office’s Municipal Equipment Loan Fund.
This marks the first step in effectuating the historic legislation, which authorizes the state to recover financial damages from fossil fuel companies for the impacts of climate change to Vermont.
Treasurer Pieciak announced that Vermont’s credit ratings were affirmed by the major credit rating agencies, S&P Global Ratings (AA+), Fitch Ratings (AA+), and Moody’s (Aa1). Leveraging this fiscal strength, Pieciak and his office successfully refinanced outstanding higher-interest bonds, resulting in savings of approximately $3.7 million.
They discussed a variety of programs worth potentially hundreds of millions of dollars to Vermonters, including an uncapped Federal program that could benefit towns and non-profits. Treasurer Pieciak also highlighted his office’s new program providing low-cost capital in this space.
After a semester learning various financial topics—from budgeting and saving to investing and managing credit card debt—Ms. Poquette’s students each presented their budget and plan for the future, their final assignment for the course.
Treasurer Pieciak announced that Vermont has selected Colorado as a partner state to help establish the state’s public retirement program, Vermont Saves.
